Daddy Day

We started off our Father's Day weekend with a special dinner at Chick Fil A. They did a special thing at our local location where they had a reserved area with table cloths and fake candles and balloons. They met you at the door and waited on you at the table. They even included free milkshakes! It was such a cute idea and we had a wonderful time!
On Sunday, the four of us had lunch together and then headed over to my parents' house to enjoy some New Mexico enchiladas and a slide show from Mom and Dad's Greece/Italy trip. It was a precious day!

I love this picture of Coop. He looks like he is ready to just spring right off of Chris' knee!

Big Girl Gifts

Caroline got two gifts that seemed very much like Big Girl gifts! See below...

Caroline asked the Durhams for an arrow of all things (who knows why??) so that is what they got her!

And what girl doesn't love her first pair of skates??

Caroline's Swimming Party

We had a fabulous time last week at Caroline's birthday party. We had it at our neighborhood amenity center and pool. The best part was that I didn't have to clean my house! It was one of the best times we've had! We are so blessed with great family and friends!

Loco Coyote

Last Friday night, in the midst of hail and torrential rain, we made the journey with our buddies, the Gentrys, to Glen Rose to eat at one of our favorite restaurants. We had a great time and were STUFFED when we left.
Is it possible to get a good picture with 2 little ones???

TO DIE FOR!
Brad's Rib Plate
Chris' Sandwich with 3 Types of BBQ on it
Right when we arrived, Caroline found this poor pathetic volleyball. It was half flat and had been left behind by all of the others playing in the field, but she took it as her own and lugged it around all night! We were calling it "Wilson" by the end of the evening.

1, 2, 3, 4

I can hardly believe it but, my Sweet Caroline is 4. We enjoyed the day at the Galleria so that we could go to her favorite place- the American Girl Store.
She has the most precious spirit and is such a light in our lives. Our lives would be so hollow without her beautiful presence. We all just adore her.
She's very much like Chris in looks, but very much like me in personality. She is very tall and lean. Her eyes are also green like his. They have been blue until this year and now they are very much green. I thought she'd keep the blues, but alas, the one feature of me in her has left us! She is very much the social butterfly and loves to make friends. She is always busy and likes to have things her way. She speaks like she is 15 with this tiny little girl voice. I pray that I never forget the sound of it! She and my mom are very best buddies. She is very sensitive to the needs of others and is very intuitive to how others are feeling. She is smart and silly.

Her goodies from the American Girl Store. We went and ate lunch at Five Guys and then came back to have dessert here.
She loved to watch the ice skaters. Honestly, I am dreading the day I actually have to get out there and skate with her!

Caroline really loves the song "1,2,3,4" by the Plain White T's. I almost cry every time she sings it! It will always remind me of when she turned 4.
"There's only 1 thing 2 do 3 words 4 you...I love you"

GIST

My sweet friend Kristen put a post on her blog that really touched me. She talked about GIST- Grace in Small Things, and it really challenged me to look for all of the blessings that the Lord has put in my life. Here is my first GIST entry.

1. Beautiful music that I can enjoy or sing as worship
2. Being able to live where I grew up, which allows me to be surrounded by people I've known most of my life
3. The fact that the Lord provided us with a day of rest every week
4. A week of birthday fun for my Sweet Caroline
5. The wide, mouth-open smile on my Little Man's face when he sees me

I'd love to see what the rest of you find Grace in. It's always an encouragement to me to see how God blesses those around me.

The Happy Days

We are now entering my favorite days of the first year! Cooper turned 3 months old yesterday! Time flies! For some reason with your second child they are even more precious and even more easy to miss. With Caroline, we had nothing better to do but sit and watch her every expression. With Coop, we are busier, so I feel like we miss more. On the other hand, I know how fast the time flies, so I try to live in the moment more!
Here's what is going on with our Big Guy-
- He is still huge! His cheeks are so so chubby! He has been in 3-6 month clothing for a month now, so I may end up having to buy more clothes before the summer is over- ah darn!
- He can entertain himself so well these days. He will play on his little play mat for hours! He tuckers out and then takes a little nap. Then he wakes up and plays more. He holds on to his toys and bats at the ones that makes noise. It makes Mommy's life so much easier!
-He is trying so hard to find a thumb. He sucks on his fist constantly. but no thumb yet!
- We have finally gotten the first laugh! He is so much stingier with his laughs than Caroline was. He tends to sit back and watch more than she did, but he is always quick with a smile!
-He is eating at least 6 ounces per bottle every 3 hours, sometimes up to 8! No wonder he's so big!
- He is such a sleepy head- YEAH!! He goes to bed around 10 or 10:30 and sleeps until at least 9:30. Several times this week, I went in and woke him up at 10:30! A friend of ours said "it's like you're living with a lazy college student!"
I am so in love with my little guy (and he's rather partial to me too if I do say so myself!). Can't wait to enjoy these next few moths of happiness before mobility comes!

Yummy!

I am going to finally put up some cake pictures... Here's a few...
