WHAT ON EARTH??!!??

Seriously!!!

Meet Jack

I decided that I wanted to have a class pet this next school year. My sweet friend Jamie was in town this week and told me that her hamster had a bunch of new babies that needed homes. SO... we now have an itty bitty baby hamster at our huose until school starts! Caroline named him Jack (one of the mice from Cinderella). He is so cute!! The COOLEST thing- he uses litter, like a cat, so I don't to change the inside mulch except every few months! All I have to do it dump out the little green ball on the side of his house!
Here's his house. I think it looks like a lunar space station...

After the Peach Festival, we went to my friend from high school, Lindsay Leach's, wedding. It was a really great time to spend with some good friends and a good chance to catch up with some old ones!

Everything's just peachey!

Last Saturday, we went with the Harlesses to the Parker County Peach Festival. It is sort of becoming a tradition with us, but really by the end of it every time we are wondering why we go!! It is always 5 million degrees and crowded and expensive. But now that my body temperature is back in the safe range, I think we'll go again next year!

Day 6- 4 Wheelers

On our last day in Colorado, we spent 8 hours roaming through the mountains. It was the highlight of a wonderful trip. I took so many pictures of mountains and waterfalls that I couldn't even begin to put them all on here! Here are some of my favorites!

This is an old mining building that was over a century old when it was completely destroyed this winter by an avalanche.

Day 5- Around Town

Today was our hang out around town day. We took it slow this morning. Caroline has really enjoyed sleeping in her special bed built into the wall. We have also been enjoying some fresh cherries grown by some of the Rice's friends.
We checked out the local shops. Caroline got a tutu and a cute little halo. She is SO girl! We ended the afternoon with our 4th trip to the soda fountain!

Day 4- Church and the River

Today we started off with a community wide service. It was held outside and all of the local churches participated. It was a really special time! in the afternoon, we went down to the river and built a fire. The kids waded in the freezing water and we roasted marshmallows and hot dogs. Another great day!

Day 3- Creede

Today we spent the day in a nearby mining town named Creede. We stopped at a waterfall on the way. It was breathtaking! The scenery on the drive was such a joy to watch. Creede was a really cute little town. They were having a small festival with crafts and food. We also went up to the old mining ruins. We let the kids stick their feet in the cold mountain spring. On the way home, we drove around Lake San Cristobal. We saw another buck right off of the road.
